Washington DC dermatologist archiving and sharing success
Foundation for success
Dr. Cheryl M. Burgess has been practicing dermatology for nearly three decades, acquiring a level of expertise that can only be achieved through hands-on experience. However, that is only one of many building blocks for excellence. The benefits of experience are minimal without a foundation of education. When an individual learns all that can be learned from others, and then refines and enhances that knowledge through personal research, practice, and a passion for the topic, the results are nothing short of phenomenal.
Building a thriving practice
Dr. Burgess surpassed the minimum credentials for board certification in dermatology, and earned the designation of fellowship with American Academy of Dermatology, one of the most highly regarded professional dermatological associations. She has earned national acclaim as one of the best in her field, appearing on several television programs including her own weekly segment featured on NBC-WRC midday news.
One of the key ingredients in her recipe for success is personal attention and highly customized care. Although there are very few skin diseases or cosmetic issues that she has not seen many times, she is keenly aware that the same problem will manifest slightly differently in each patient. One of the most important lessons she has learned in that time is that every patient and every situation is unique.
Expanding to meet demand
Dr. Burgess founded the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery in Washington, DC, where she continues to practice. She regularly sees patients from communities such as Alexandria, Arlington, Arnold, Baltimore, Bowie, Columbia, Crofton, Davidsonville, Fairfax, Greenbelt, Herndon, Laurel, McLean, MD, Mitchellville, North Virginia, Potomac, Silver Springs, and Sterling. Due to the high demand for quality cosmetic and medical dermatology services in our area, Dr. Burgess recently opened a second location in Annapolis, making healthy, beautiful skin more convenient than ever.
In addition to continuously expanding her own education and skills, Dr. Burgess is dedicated to advancing the field of dermatology, by sharing her considerable knowledge with fellow healthcare providers. She has contributed to textbooks, trained physicians, and given countless lectures and speeches. She also offers a highly regarded PA fellowship training program, in which students train directly under her guidance.
