Skin Tightening

Skin Tightening Treatment at Washington, DC, and Annapolis, MD

At the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, Dr. Cheryl Burgess sees many patients from the areas of Annapolis, MD and Washington, DC who are interested in enhancing their body without traditional plastic surgeries. Instead of undergoing invasive, risky surgeries to improve the body, patients now have access to several technologies and devices that can achieve similar results without these types of procedures. Dr. Cheryl Burgess is a board certified dermatologist who is excited to offer many options to her patients including Pelleve®, PelleFirm®, and Ultherapy®.

Pelleve®, PelleFirm®, and Ultehrapy® are two devices that can be utilized in the practice for skin tightening. This in turn improves body contours and can even address problems such as cellulite.

Pelleve® was approved in 2009 by the FDA for reducing the appearance of mild to moderate facial wrinkles. The device emits radiofrequency energy which heats the skin and stimulates the production of collagen to lift and tighten treatment areas immediately with long-term results from collagen remodeling.

PelleFirm® is a new device that also uses radiofrequency energy but is better suited for areas such as the buttocks and thighs. It can tighten the skin while improving conditions such as cellulite, breaking down the fat and connective tissues in the area and smoothing out the skin.

Are you looking for a treatment to tighten your skin, and you're looking for a place to go? Dr. Cheryl Burgess's dermatology may be the place for you. Watch the video and know all about it.

Hi, I’m Dr. Cheryl Burgess, and I will be talking to you today about what we can do to tighten your skin.

When is skin tightening needed?

One reason is when you have sagging skin, which is seen more often in the skin of color.

The darker their skin color, African Americans show fewer signs of aging, but they have a little bit of sagging, which is why we use skin tightening.

A factor to consider when skin tightening is: wrinkles. No matter how much you try to tighten or iron it, you’re going to have lines from wrinkles.

When people lose weight and want to tighten their skin a little bit, they have the opportunity to do so.

What types of skin tightening is available at the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery?

We have two modalities that tighten and shrink skin at the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.

One is radio frequency, more for younger age groups (20’s to 30’s).

For the 30’s to 60’s, we use Ultherapy, which is a deeper tightening procedure on the skin.

All procedures are done every year to keep the skin tight.

Feel free to call us and learn about the skin tightening options for you.

Ultherapy® uses radiofrequency energy to attain the same results but is better suited for larger areas such as around the arms, legs, buttocks, abdomen, etc.

All these radiofrequency devices are safe to use on the body to break down fat and allow the body to naturally flush them out over the course of time. The results? Tighter skin, better body contours, less fine lines and wrinkles, and the reduction of collagen. All without surgery.

Tightening the skin is a common request by patients with skin laxity. By contacting the team of the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, patients can book an appointment with a board certified dermatologist and find out more about the advantages of non-invasive treatments such as Pelleve®, PelleFirm®, and Ultherapy®. Our team takes the time to educate men and women on the benefits they provide and can help in determining the most appropriate based on one’s specific treatment desires.
