Dr. Cheryl Burgess and the team of the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery provide new and existing patients a wide range of skin solutions for medical and cosmetic purposes. When patients come to her practice and are concerned about the appearance of their skin due to skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, they are often introduced to a myriad of injectables that can help in facial enhancement, turning back the hands of time and allowing patients the chance to “age gracefully.”
Many injectables are readily available through our practice. Neuromodulators such as Botox® can be used to address folds developed by muscle tension, while collagen stimulators can add volume to larger areas such as the cheeks. Dermal fillers such as Restylane may be most appropriate for addressing specific fine lines, wrinkles and folds on the face.
Restylane treatment is a common suggestion for those who are interested in addressing specific folds on the face such as the laugh lines or nasolabial folds. They often respond well to this hyaluronic acid filler that is injected directly into the folds to add volume. Restylane is among many other dermal fillers available including Juvéderm. Many patients ask for these products by name.
These fillers often last approximately six to nine months, depending on how long it takes the body to reabsorb the proteins. Every patient is different. However, when patients want to maintain the results, we often encourage them to schedule appointments every six months to have touch-up treatments done to avoid having the wrinkles become more defined. We are unable to help patients stop the signs of aging, but we can definitely slow the process and give them confidence over the years.
If you live in or around the Washington, DC or Annapolis area and are interested in learning more about injectables and other services available through the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery for anti-aging, contact us and schedule an appointment to speak to a board certified dermatologist about the ways in which the signs of aging can be slowed.
