Botox / Xeomin / Dysport

Neuromodulators have been called the “aspirin of the 21st century,” due to their versatility and effectiveness. Botox®, the best-known brand had been safely used in a variety of medical and cosmetic applications for many years. In dermatology, its primary uses are the reduction of lines and wrinkles, as well as hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

At CDDS, P.C. we offer Botox® as well as Xeomin and Dysport. Although these products are very similar, there are subtle differences. We will help you choose the best option based your unique needs.

Benefits

Botulinum toxin injections soften lines that are caused by movement. This type of wrinkling occurs most often around the eyes and on the forehead, such as crow’s feet and frown lines. However, a skilled physician can utilize this treatment in other areas, such as reducing marionette lines and softening a square jaw or a puckered chin.

Neurotoxins do not cause permanent changes. The results last from three to six months, depending on the individual. After a number of sessions, you will likely find that you need injections less frequently as your muscles achieve a state of natural relaxation. Because it is safe and long lasting, yet temporary, this is a wonderful complimentary treatment, often used in conjunction with procedures such as laser resurfacing or dermal fillers. It is also a great “starter” procedure for new patients.

The procedure

Treatment simply consists of a few tiny injections which are virtually painless with the use of topical anesthetic. You will be able to return to regular activities immediately following your appointment, making this a popular “lunchtime” procedure.

These products all have stellar safety records when used correctly and the results are beautifully natural looking. Patients are frequently concerned about looking “frozen,” but that is a result of the physician, not the product. In our practice, the goal is always a healthy, beautiful and natural looking appearance. Our team of trained professionals (with the oversight of a board-certified dermatologist) has the expertise, experience and excellent judgment to know how much of which product to use and which muscles need to be relaxed.
