What can Washington area patients expect before and after Restylane injections?
Dr. Cheryl Burgess of the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery in Washington is here to help patients in and around the area with methods of improving their appearance and addressing the unwanted signs of aging. Using dermal fillers, neuromodulators, and collagen stimulators, patients can enjoy the benefits of less fine lines and wrinkles on the face—and therefore, a more youthful appearance overall. Cosmetic treatments such as Juvederm, Restylane and Belotero are perfect for addressing specific lines and wrinkles that may be troublesome. Restylane is extremely popular and is very well tolerated by many patients. When men and women come to the practice and want to learn more about this treatment, Dr. Cheryl Burgess can describe what they can expect before, during, and after their injections.
Before patients can have Restylane injected, they must go through a physical evaluation and speak with a board certified dermatologist about the treatment and how it can improve their skin. Depending on the area of concern, some patients may be better suited for neuromodulators or collagen stimulators instead of the traditional hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. An experienced doctor can help patients decide the best course of treatment to achieve the desired results.
Injections are done quickly in the dermatological office. The skin is cleansed and Restylane is strategically injected directly into specific fine lines, wrinkles, and folds to provide optimum coverage. It is a virtually painless procedure. Restylane may even be combined with other injections to provide a full liquid “face lift.” This can be done for more moderate to severe areas of lines and wrinkles that are bothersome to the patient.
After Restylane injections, patients may notice some discomfort and swelling at the injection site. Redness may also occur but can be easily covered with cosmetics. These “side effects” may last a day or two but will be mild and go away on their own. Patients will also be advised as to what to expect over the course of days and weeks to better understand how the injection works.
