At the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, Dr. Cheryl Burgess and her team of professionals are ready and willing to assist patients who are struggling with the unwanted signs of aging. Fine lines and wrinkles form on the face when collagen is lost and the skin begins to loosen. These fine lines and wrinkles make patients look much older than they are and can cause them to feel dissatisfied with their appearance. Instead of going for more expensive and invasive solutions such as a face lift or other plastic surgery, patients who visit our board certified dermatologist may determine that others options such as injectables is the key to enhanced appearance.

Restylane Logo

Dermal fillers come in a wide variety of brands. Restylane® is just one of several injectables readily available at the practice of Dr. Cheryl Burgess. Restylane® is a hyaluronic acid filler that is used to add volume directly to specific areas of the face. It is commonly used and indicated for use on the laugh lines and nasolabial folds. The gel-like substance is injected directly into the folds and wrinkles of concern to provide volume and smoother skin quickly and easily in just one appointment.

Dr. Cheryl Burgess of the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery encourages patients to consider the advantages of using Restylane® along with other injectables in her practice such as Juvéderm®. Neuromodulators such as Botox®, Dysport® and Xeomin® may also be used to limit muscle contractions and provide additional enhancement of the skin. When used together, patients will enjoy a beautiful appearance for six months or longer.

Patients located around the area of Washington, DC or Annapolis, MD area welcome to visit our board certified dermatologist at the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery to discuss the possibilities of turning back the hands of time by using dermal fillers such as Restylane®. We encourage men and women to take the time to find out how these treatments can drastically improve the appearance and texture of the skin.

What is Restylane and it's side effects?

What is Restylane and it's side effects? Explained by Dr. Cheryl Burgess - Dermatologist on Demand™

What is unique about Restylane?

Restylane is just one of the hyaluronic acid fillers, made available but it was the pioneer of all the hyaluronic acid fillers in the market. Many other hyaluronic acid fillers have been indicated in the US but are not used anymore. Restylane has stood the test of time as a hyaluronic acid filler in the US.

Are there any side effects as a result of Restylane?

As Restylane is a hyaluronic acid filler, it is very hydrophilic – which means it is more absorbent. As it can draw in the moisture to the region where it is applied, if not careful with the amount used, it can lead to puffiness of the area.

What can be done in cases of side-effects from Restylane?

Hyaluronidase (an enzyme protein) can dissolve hyaluronic acid and treat complications. This is a good thing as we can dissolve or reduce the hyaluronic acid if that ever becomes a problem.
