Dr. Burgess, MD, is the founder and president of the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery in Washington, DC. She is Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Georgetown University Medical Center and George Washington University Hospital, Washington, DC.

After earning a doctorate of medicine from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC, Dr. Burgess completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency in dermatology at Howard University Hospital. She is board certified in dermatology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is also a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. She serves on the Executive Board of Directors of the Women’s Dermatologic Society and on the Board of Directors of the Skin of Color Society.

Dr. Burgess has a special interest in soft tissue enhancement therapy and participates in FDA and investigator-initiated clinical trials in facial aesthetics. She is a clinical investigator, consultant, and advisor to Allergan, Inc., BioCosmetic Research Labs, sanofi-aventis, Johnson & Johnson, Medicis, and BioForm. Her scope of research covers drug and device development. 

Dr. Burgess has published, edited, and authored articles in numerous peer review journals, including Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Cosmetic Dermatology, the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery, Cutis, and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is editor of the textbook Cosmetic Dermatology (Springer, 2005) and has authored a chapter in several textbooks: Special Considerations in African-American Skin, in Cosmetic Dermatology for Skin of Color; Cosmetic Products, in Dermatology for Skin of Color; and Poly-L-lactic Acid, in Facial Rejuvenation with Fillers. A frequent speaker at dermatology and plastic surgery conferences, Dr. Burgess has also been featured in the media and interviewed on programs such as ABC News, FOX News, and NBC News.

Dr. Lily Talakoub is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and attending physician in Washington DC. She received her B.Sc. from McGill University and both her M.D. and Master of Public Health degrees from Boston University School of Medicine where she was graduated cum laude and elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She graduated in the top 10 percent of her class and won over 10 awards for excellence including excellence in dermatology, surgery and won the prestigious American Medical Association award for her excellence in leadership. She completed her internal medicine residency at Stanford University followed by completion of a dermatology residency at University of California San Francisco.

Dr. Talakoub is a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology and is a clinician educator for dermatology training at Georgetown University and Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Talakoub participated as a medical writer for ABC news and served in the Office of the US Surgeon General. She is affiliated with numerous professional societies including Women's Dermatologic Society, American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. She has published articles in the field of cosmeceuticals, ethnic skin, and cosmetic dermatology.
