Dr. Cheryl Burgess is a nationally and internationally recognized innovator and authority on advanced technologies in non-invasive aesthetic procedures. She has written lectured and trained physicians extensively on her patented technique (U.S. Patent No. 7,637,900) of soft tissue enhancement and injectable fillers and neuromodulator injection techniques before the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), American Society of Aesthetic Physicians (ASAPS) and American Society of Plastic Surgeons. She is also a clinical investigator, consultant and advisor to Allergan Inc., BioCosmetic Research Labs, Sanofi-aventis, Johnson & Johnson, Stiefel, Medicis, Merz and BioForm. She is often called upon to serve as a medical expert.

Dr. Burgess has authored and published articles in numerous scientific peer review journals, including Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Cosmetic Dermatology, the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery, Cutis, and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is the author and senior editor of Cosmetic Dermatology (Springer-Verlag) and has authored numerous chapters in Aesthetic Textbooks: Special Considerations in African-American Skin in Cosmetic Dermatology in Skin of Color, Cosmetic Products in Dermatology for Skin of Color, Poly-L-lactic Acid in Facial Rejuvenation with Fillers, and Sauer’s Manual of Skin Diseases.

Cheryl M. Burgess, MD, earned her doctorate of medicine degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC, completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency in dermatology at Howard University Hospital. Dr. Burgess is board-certified in dermatology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She also is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Dermatologic Society and Skin of Color Society.
